I was surfing the net the other day, and came across an article that left me flabbergasted. A GUCCI handbag bought from online auction site eBay never arrived, a jury was told yesterday.
Lucy Webber, of Rhosgadfan near Caernarfon, said she bid for the black leather handbag last March and paid pounds 41 for it but did not receive the package.

The 35-year-old denies fraud and claims a handbag she was later seen with was a different item.
The prosecution allege at Caernarfon Crown Court that Webber did nott like the bag and pretended it never arrived in order to claim the money back from the seller.

Webber is said to have shown off the bag to colleagues at the Royal Mail customer service office at Bangor.

But quizzed by her barrister Kim Halsall, Webber insisted the handbag was a replica, similar to the one on eBay, but bought on holiday in Spain for pounds 20 in July.

“I wanted the bag (on eBay), I bid for it, I won it, I bought it, I was very miffed when it didn’t arrive. The bag I saw in Spain was very similar to it which is why I bought it,” she told the court.
The court heard she refused to allow Royal Mail investigators to examine or photograph the bag until she had received legal advice during an interview .

Webber said she later lost the bag on a night out.

The mum-of-two said she had bought more than 80 items from eBay in the past three years including several handbags but investigator Neil Roberts said eBay records were checked and revealed she had not bought any other handbags.
